Essex Junction

DMV Certified Teen Driver Education Courses

This course is for teenagers who have a current Vermont Learner's Permit, and meet all state requirements.

  • 30 hours of group classroom training. Attendance for all classes required.

  • 6 hours of driving, 6 hours of driving observation. Students must also be able to attend one or two driving appointments each week during the session.

  • For Fall, Winter, Spring, and Summer I classes, driving appointments are scheduled Mon-Thurs before and after school. Group classes are separate from driving appointments.

  • Classes are offered at the Essex Junction Recreation and Parks location(75 Maple Street Park).

  • Please note that you may be required to schedule at least a few 6:45am driving appointments.

  • If you are not able to commit to the above attendance and driving appointment requirements please do not enroll.

  • All students who meet DMV qualifications are eligible for a complimentary 3rd Party DMV road test.

Schedules

2026 Spring Session:

  • Sunday classes 6pm-8pm and Wednesday classes 6:30pm-8:30pm all in-person.

  • Scheduled dates: March 4th, 8, 11, 15, 18, 22, 25, 29, April 1, 8, 12, 15, 26, 29, May 3, 6 (make-up day)

  • Mandatory in person parent/student Orientation 6:30pm-8:30pm, March 4th.

  • Driving appointments will be 1 1/2 hour in length and only once a week for students. You may be required to drive at 6:45am weekday mornings.

2026 Summer Session:

  • Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays 6:30-8:30 p.m. and Sundays 6:00-8:00 p.m.

  • Classes are a combination of remote and in person. Classes below in blue are remote; classes in bold are in person.

  • Scheduled dates: May 26, 27, 31, June 3, 7, 10, 15, 16, 17, 22, 23, 24, 29, 30, July 1.

  • Mandatory in person orientation May 26 from 6:30pm-8:30pm.

  • Driving appointments are separate from scheduled classes and will be 2 hours in length, once a week.

  • Driving appointments will be after school and on weekends for the first three weeks of class then scheduled throughout the day on weekdays when summer break starts.

2026 Fall Session:

  • Sunday classes 9:00am-11:00am.  Wednesday classes 6:30pm-8:30pm.

  • Scheduled Dates: September 27, 30, October 4, 7, 11, 14, 18, 21, 25, 28, November 1, 4, 8, 11, 15, 18 (make-up day). 

  • Mandatory in-person orientation September 27 from 9:00am-11:00am. 

  • Driving appointments will be 1 1/2 hours in length, once a week.

2026 Winter Session:

  • Sunday classes 9:00am-11:00am.  Wednesday classes 6:30pm-8:30pm.

  • Scheduled Dates: December 6, 9, 13, 16, 20, 23, January 6, 10, 13, 17, 20, 24, 27, 31, February 3, 7 (make-up day). 

  • Mandatory in-person orientation December 6 from 9:00am-11:00am. 

  • Driving appointments will be 1 1/2 hours in length, once a week.
